Internal Links are just normal hyperlinks that usually points to another page on the same website. You can open these internal links on the same Tab or even new tabs. They are commonly used in main navigation and it allow users to navigate a website in the right manner

     In SEO term we call it as anchor texts and it is good if every anchor text that we place in any part of the webpage should be keywords descriptive relevant to the topic of the page. They provide little link juice (ranking power o ranking potential) to other page and that’s why is a good practice from an seo point of view. It actually helps to distribute page authoity and ranking power throughtout the website.

You can build an SEO-friendly site architecture with the help of internal links as they help establish information hierarchy for the given website. It improves the overall usability and overall crawlability making it easier for search engines and users to find your content.We need to know that strategic internal linking is an SEO power technique, especially for content marketing.


Below are the list of 25  Interlinking strategies that SEO Professionals should use
1.       Use Keyword Rich Anchor Text or targeted keywords in anchor text (exact, phrase or synonyms)
2.       Internal Links Per Page : Have Less than 100 internal links on a web page is a good practice
3.       Build an SEO-friendly site architecture Site
4.       Links should open in New Tab : Increases Avg session duration of new website
5.       Instead of Read more – you can put up some like Know more on Digital Marketing, if Digital marketing is your keyword
6.       Menu Navigational Links - Never hide your main link navigation so that search engines cannot access and your webpages may not get indexed
7.       Footer Links : Have all the keyword targeted pages in footer links as those pages will be connected to Footer in Home Page
8.       HTML sitemap : use all the possible links in your HTML sitemap
9.       Links in CTA Buttons
10.   You can create lot of internal links by creating lot of internal pages. These pages can have link in any format: text, image, video, buttons, etc
11.   Do Deep linking – Don’t Try to link everything to home page only but link out to other pages on website that you want to rank for
12.   Silo Links : – It means linking various keywords on a new blog post which has relevant blog post related to  that keyword earlier posted.
13.   Links in Corpoate Blogs : have upto 1 to 3 Anchor links on Corporate Blogs. you can use related post plugins, top post widgets in the sidebar, categories, breadcrumbs and better pagination
14.   Links in External Blogs :You need to have upto 1 to 3 Anchor links on external Blogs like blogspot, wordpress
15.   Anchor Text Keywords in Offpage Submissions like blog comments, directory etc
16.   Anchor text in offpage descriptions by creating the anchor text code
17.   You can link out to external sources with no follow links so that users get helpful information
18.   The anchor text linked from external places, if it reflects the page title then it is useful
19.   Use of good mixture of brand anchor text(Saby), naked url anchor text (site.com), targeted exact match anchor text(digital marketing course), generic anchor text,(click here) misc anchor text (unrelated)
20.   Use the Most Linked-to Pages - Use Open Site Explorer tool. Get the list of the most linked to pages of a website and drop links on those pages to your targeted landing pages. Theoretically those pages are the biggest reservoirs of link equity, and your goal is to harness and effectively distribute the flow of link juice.
21.   Use Breadcrumb in your linking strategy
22.   Have Internal links in all your targeted webpages
23.   Add"related links" at the end of a page or in a sidebar.
24.   Drop Links on Pages Higher in the Information Architecture. These may be your category pages
25.   Interlink pages targeting competitive keywords


One more good practice is that all webpage should be linked to another at some place on your web pages. This may give the search engines about the indication of your web pages which might not have been indexed by search engines
